Sookie's puppies are now nearing the 6 week mark, and are playful, inquisitive and cuddly, but they all have a certain feistiness, and it is entertaining watching them play!
Now, I was planning to keep the chocolate girl, but unfortunately, as with all my plans it seems, I can no longer do so - I have found that she has an umbilical hernia. Now this is not a major deal, and hernias are very common, however, as I have said before, I don't breed dogs for the hell of it, and would never choose to have a litter from a dog that needed a surgical procedure, as it can be a genetic condition. Umbilical hernias sometimes close on their own, or if needed can be mended when the dog/bitch goes in for neutering/spaying. Jukee Doodles, Mick and Jeanette Watson and I have been working together to breed down the generations to F4 Cockapoos. Sookie was betrothed to Woody III since conception, and her daughter is in turn betrothed to Sox, an F2 cockapoo owned by JD, and one of their F3 litter is betrothed to another F3 litter to get us down to the F4's. So with one girl out of the running, it means that "Red" is stepping up to further the generations! Red is an adorable little girl, but for some reason our Komondor Trixie has not taken a shine to her, and I feel she may be too feisty for my pack. So, as per our original agreement, Red is off to live at JD land, which is wonderful, as I will still get to see her a couple of times a year. The couple next on my list have chosen the chocolate boy (possibly to be named Ziggy!), after falling in love with him when they came to visit. So the chocolate girl I fell in love with, is last to be chosen, and will need a very special family, as she is just lovely, and my heart breaks a little when I remember I am not keeping her :( Her coat is still very wavy, so I will be in contact with the reserves on Sookie's list in the next couple of days. At this stage, there is a possibility that we may keep one of Polly's puppies instead, but we will see what she has first, and of course, if they get on with the Komondors!!
