Polly's surgery went very well. Unfortunately the surgeon was unable to remove the mass as her arteries and veins were all entwined with it, and to do so would have killed her, and they still don't know what it is! It is definitely not cancerous though, and they suspect it has been caused by a foreign body, but couldn't find evidence in the little bit they were able to explore.
Polly has bounced back since the operation - she is on steroids, and just had her dosage reduced last week, so hopefully things will continue to go well. She is eating really well (thanks to the steroids) and has gained back some weight and is now over 11kgs (she was down to 8kg when she went in for surgery) and looks normal and healthy once more. She has been playing with the other dogs (and humping them much to Max's disgust!), has been out for walks and led the others astray by charging all over the place! Of course she always comes when I call her, so it is wonderful training and learning for Toby and the very independent (but treat orientated!) Sookie. We have also been playing some ball, so the pups have seen Polly's demon side for the first time...!! I will keep you all updated when I can. Of course, until Polly is off steroids and gets the all clear from the vet, there will be no puppies. My waiting list however, is pretty full, so thank you all for your patience and faith in me.
