You can read more about F2 and further generations of cockapoos (F3, F4), over on the Cockapoo Club of GB website. They are still half cocker spaniel and half poodle. They are still incredibly cute, playful, loyal and cuddly, still fabulous with children, sociable and fun. A big plus side is the fact that the less curly coats are much less high maintenance, as cockapoos do need regular grooming.
Our puppies are F2 Cockapoo’s from F1 Cockapoo parents whose parents are from English Working Cocker Spaniel mothers and Miniature Poodle dads.
We have made the choice to breed F2 Cockapoo’s as they will give us the variety of Cockapoo types that we are being asked for today. Within the same litter all the puppies will have their own individual characters but all the typical charm and intelligence of the Cockapoo cross-breed dog. In looks however, we will have four very desirable variations in coat types to suit all our customers’ requirements. The Flat Coat that looks very similar to the Cocker Spaniel and as such is a very low maintenance. This coat will shed and will not need clipping. The Straight Coat grows long to give the cockapoo look, but the hair is straight. This coat will be easy to brush and will need clipping. The coat will probably not shed. The Wavy Coat, this looks like a teddy bear from 6-7 weeks old but becomes a high maintenance coat that will need regular attention and clipping/trimming to prevent matting. It will probably be none shedding. The Poodle Type Coat is another teddy bear look and is a very curly coat that will need to be kept well groomed, clipped and trimmed as it is prone to matts. This will be a non-shedding coat.
